MUSEUM FOR OLD TECHNIQUES DIRECTORY OF TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC COLLECTIONS IN THE MUSEUMS IN FLANDERS AND BRUSSELS Where to find tools used in a craft industry or the instruments used in a profession? In which museum can you find carts, boats or planes? To find out : You can also conduct your research directly in the list by museum and the list by municipality. The museums in this directory are linked to their proper webspot. Museums that haven't a website yet, can present themselves through this directory. Needless to say that we can only show you the museums that responded to our enquiry and that the Museum of Old Techniques takes no responsibility for the presentation of other museums. If you notice that any information is incorrect or incomplete, please let us know via email . The Directory of technical and scientific collections in the museums of Flanders and Brussels is an initiative of the Museum for Old Techniques, launched in 1997 with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation, the Loterie Nationale and the Flemish Community. The results were published in J. DAVID & M. WIENEN, Het Repertorium van de Technische en Wetenschappelijke Collecties in de Vlaamse en Brusselse Musea, Grimbergen, 1999 (9 EUR by order via email ). The Directory was initially intended for museum personnel: they have to know what there is and, consequently, what there isn't until now, to be able to formulate a general acquisition and collection policy. The Directory also makes it possible to help people who are looking for a specific collection, as well as researchers. This project was sponsored by ![]() |
