Georges Vanlaer is there to offer the Museum the benefit of his extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of woodworking. Naturally, we are very pleased with his efforts. Interested as well? Do not hesitate to contact us at info@mot.be.
The Directory of technical and scientific collections in the museums of Flanders and Brussels is an initiative of the Museum for Old Techniques, launched in 1997 with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation, the Loterie Nationale and the Flemish Community. The results were published in J. DAVID & M. WIENEN, Het Repertorium van de Technische en Wetenschappelijke Collecties in de Vlaamse en Brusselse Musea, Grimbergen, 1999 (350 BF by order via info@mot.be). The Directory was initially intended for museum personnel: they have to know what there is and, consequently, what there isn't until now, to be able to formulate a general acquisition and collection policy. It is clear that the Directory also makes it possible to help people who are looking for a specific collection, as well as researchers. A while ago, the Directory was put on the web (www.mot.be). We recently translated it into English for the benefit of foreign researchers and anyone else with an interest in museums. KIDS NEWS: something to do with your children tonight
therefore we want to show you how easy it really is and how quickly you can get started. All you need is a cup of salt, a cup of water and two cups of flour (and perhaps a drop of oil). Mix the salt and the water, add the flour (and the oil) to the mixture and you're ready to go. You can either dry the figures or bake them in the oven (40-45 min. temp. 180°C)
