  • The MOT-website is showing a new 'what's it' for you to puzzle out. Visit

the site at www.mot.be and help us identify this unidentified (non-flying) object.

KIDS NEWS: something to do with your children tonight.

  • Grow your own flour worms!

The preservation of flour wasn't always that easy and flour worms formed a serious threat. You can show your children the transformation from flour worms to beetles.

A handful of worms will cost you about 50 BEF in any fishing supplies shop (Fishermen use them as bait).

Fill a glass jar with flour (approx. 5 cm of flour) and put your worms in there. Remember to pierce some holes in the lid for air. Store the jar in a dark place, warm and dry.

You and your children can now follow the transformation from flour worms to beetles. The whole process will take about a month, so have a little patience.

When all the worms have turned in to beetles, you can occasionally add a piece of carrot or apple to the jar in order to keep their nest slightly moist.

Your beetles will breed in turn and grow new worms. They will be so small at first that it is advisable to strap a nylon stocking or something over your jar, to prevent them from crawling out trough the air holes in the lid.
