    Milling

    The MOT’s own miller takes you on a tour of the fascinating world of this 17th century water-powered grain mill. He explains the history and working of the mill, and shows how the power of water sets the huge mechanism in motion. You are sure to be wonderstruck!

    Individual visitors: from April to September every first and third Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Exceptionally no demonstrations from October to March due to restoration work.
    Groups: on request.
    Please note that we can only mill if there is enough water in the stream.

    Forging

    At one time, the blacksmith was truly indispensable. He made, repaired and maintained all iron tools, household utensils and other essential items. The blacksmith will show you the properties of iron and tell you how you work with iron.

    In front of the forge we have set up a shoeing stock, which is used by the farrier on special occasions to shoe draught horses. If you want to be kept informed about these occasions, subscribe to our newsletter (Dutch speaking)!

    Beekeeping
    The timber-framed beehive shelter at the Liermolen site is the perfect home for the bees kept by the beekeepers of the Royal Society for Beekeeping of the Grimbergen region. Our beekeepers are happy to give you some background information about their work.
