In 2007, the MOT received a fine donation from possibly the last pump borer in Flanders. This man not only gave his tools, he also gave us an interview about the practice of drilling a wooden pump.
In the spring of 2017 oak trunks were dragged out of the forest with muscle power from humans and animals. These trunks were laid in the pond at the Prinsenkasteel to remove tannic acids. In the spring of 2019 the wood will be drilled lengthwise and made into a usable pump. The whole process is documented and made accessible in various ways.
