alias

saw setting hammer (syn.) (SALAMAN 1975: 437)
description

Hammer for setting a saw with relatively large teeth, i.e. for leveling the teeth in the same way.

It is a double pin steel hammer. The ends are often grooved so that it does not slip when you hit the hard sawtooth. The sawing hammer comes in different sizes.

Distinguishable from the whetting hammer, which is heavier and has a shorter handle.
