Requesting information

Do you have a question about the history of technology, or are you looking for documentation about a hand tool, trade or working technique? Our staff will try to find the answer for you!

Information about an unknown tool

Are you trying to identify an unknown tool? Then take a look in our online database ID-DOC. Using drawings, you can quickly and easily search for a tool on the basis of its shape, even if you don’t have any information about its function or name or who used it.

Unable to find your tool in ID-DOC? That probably means that it is not currently included in the database. We are working constantly to add to the database.

If you provide us with one or more clear photos indicating the scale and some precise info on the dimensions, including the weight, we will search for you.

Information about the library

Our extensive technical library may be consulted for free by appointment at the museum’s Guldendal Site between 8 am and 5 pm every weekday. There is a PC in the reading room that visitors can use to perform searches. You can also tell us what you want first by email or phone: we will then look for the relevant books and have them waiting for you. Books may not be borrowed, but photocopies or scans may be made (see list of charges).

Part of our collection of trade catalogues may be consulted online here.
